Botox Aftercare

Following your anti-wrinkle treatment at NewLife Aesthetics, a small number of simple steps will help you get the best possible result and avoid any unnecessary complications.

First 24 Hours

Key restrictions while Botox settles

24 Hours – 2 Weeks

Ongoing care through the effect period

Optional Extras

Evidence-based additions, not obligations

Step 01

First 24 hours: what to avoid

For the first day, the aim is to let the Botox settle where it has been placed.

Stay upright and avoid lying flat or bending forward for four to six hours.

Do not rub, press or massage the treated areas and avoid facial treatments or facial massage.

Be gentle when you wash your face and apply skin care.

Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and very hot baths or showers.

Avoid alcohol and try to keep caffeine to a minimum, as these can increase bruising.

Avoid tight hats, headbands or goggles that press on the treated areas.

Wait at least four to six hours before applying make up to the treated areas and apply it very lightly.

You can return to your usual routine, including exercise, as long as there is no increased bruising or discomfort.

Continue to avoid strong pressure or deep massage on the treated areas for at least forty-eight hours and ideally up to three days. This includes firm facial massage, gua sha tools, jade rollers and strong pressure from beauty devices

Avoid strong facial treatments such as deep facials with extractions, chemical peels, micro needling and laser on the treated areas for about one week, unless your practitioner has advised otherwise

You can follow your normal skin care routine from the next day, using clean hands and gentle pressure around the treated areas.

A mild headache, small bumps, redness or bruising around the injection points can be normal in the first few days. Simple pain relief such as paracetamol is usually suitable unless your own doctor has advised against it.

Step 02

After 24 hours up to 2 weeks

Botox starts to soften lines after a few days and usually settles fully by ten to fourteen days.

Step 03

Optional extras (not essential)

There is a lot of advice online about Botox aftercare. The most important points are in the two sections above. The following are optional and not required for good results:

A wrapped cold pack used for a few minutes at a time to ease mild swelling or tenderness.

Special Botox exercises beyond normal expressions such as smiling, frowning and raising your eyebrows.

Supplements such as arnica or bromelain for bruising. Evidence is limited and they are not essential.

Sleeping in a strict position after the first night. Once you have remained upright for the first four to six hours, you can sleep as normal.

"Most people find that following the simple steps above is enough to support safe healing and natural looking results."
