Acne treatment

Acne has always been associated as a teenage problem; contrary to belief, we see many clients in their 20’s to 40’s to 50’s who are still really struggling with acne on a day to day basis. It can even occur as late onset acne especially for someone who is undergoing hormone changes or stress. Acne can occur when bacteria contaminates a hair follicle which has been congested with excessive oil, causing blackheads and whiteheads which then develop into active inflamed acne with spots and pustules. We understand the power this skin condition has on your self-confidence. Our doctors’ and skin specialists’ work with your skin to minimise the four key elements of acne: Active/Inflamed Acne, excessive oil production, hormones, and bacteria. Acne is very complex to treat; it can vary depending on the nature and severity, which means we need to take an intricate approach, considering all 3 levels of treatment during your consultation with our doctor.

These 3 different levels of treatment used to create a program depending on acne type: Specialised treatments (Laser, LED, mild to deep peels), Topical creams (prescribed or in clinic pharmaceutical grade skincare), Medication (oral anti-biotics, hormonal contraceptives, oral accutane)

Who is the ideal Acne treatment candidate?

There is no ideal candidate, if you have mild to moderate acne concerns, we are able to create a bespoke treatment plan, to ensure you will see a significant improvement in your skin complexion. Treating acne is often an extensive journey, but our aim is to get your skin to a level in which you are satisfied. The precise number of treatments needed varies for each client. The course duration will be discussed upon consultation, as well as maintenance treatments needed after the initial course has finished.

If you have mild to moderate acne:

You’ll continue to be seen by your practitioner.
You’ll be booked in for a course of treatments and also a review in four to six weeks’ time.

If you have severe acne:

You’ll be referred to a Doctor for a consultation. The doctor will recommend one of the three levels of treatment, from topical creams to a choice of oral medication.
Once your course of treatment has finished, you’ll have a follow up appointment to confirm your treatment is achieving the expected result.
