A light peel may be considered when you want to refresh the appearance of the skin with less planned recovery. A medium peel requires more preparation and aftercare. If your main concern is persistent pigmentation or melasma, your practitioner may discuss whether a dedicated programme such as Cosmelan is more appropriate than a standard peel.

People with darker skin tones can have chemical peels, but careful selection and experience treating their skin tone matter because irritation may lead to unwanted pigment changes. A stronger peel is not automatically the better choice.
