Sylfirm X is an advanced radiofrequency microneedling treatment used to improve a range of skin concerns, particularly fine lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness, mild to moderate skin laxity, uneven texture, enlarged pores and acne scarring.

For many clients, the aim is not to dramatically change the face, but to improve skin quality so that it appears firmer, smoother, fresher and more refined. Sylfirm X can also be considered for selected concerns involving redness, rosacea and pigmentation, including melasma, where appropriate.

What Is Sylfirm X?

Sylfirm X combines microneedling with controlled radiofrequency energy. Very fine microneedle electrodes enter the skin at a selected depth and deliver RF energy into the targeted tissue.

The device offers both continuous wave and pulsed wave radiofrequency modes, giving the practitioner flexibility to select the treatment approach according to the individual’s skin and treatment goals. Treatment depth can also be adjusted, allowing different areas and concerns to be treated in a considered and individual way.

Sylfirm X for Wrinkles and Ageing Skin

One of the main reasons clients choose Sylfirm X is to improve visible signs of skin ageing.

Over time, changes in collagen, elastin and the structure of the skin can contribute to fine lines and wrinkles, crepey skin, reduced firmness, loss of elasticity, uneven texture, enlarged pores and mild to moderate laxity.

Radiofrequency microneedling creates controlled stimulation within the skin. The body’s natural repair response can support collagen remodelling over time, which may gradually improve the appearance of texture, firmness and fine lines.

Results develop progressively rather than creating an artificial or suddenly altered appearance.

Can Sylfirm X Tighten and Lift the Skin?

Sylfirm X is often chosen by clients who feel that their skin is becoming less firm or beginning to show early signs of laxity.

The treatment is designed to support remodelling within the skin and can improve the appearance of firmness and tightening over time. Some clients may notice that areas of the face or neck look more defined as skin quality and firmness improve, creating a subtle lifted or refreshed appearance.

However, Sylfirm X should not be presented as producing the same degree of lifting as a surgical facelift. The degree of improvement depends on factors including age, degree of skin laxity, skin quality, treatment area, number of treatments and individual response.

How Does Sylfirm X Work?

Sylfirm X is a bipolar radiofrequency microneedling system operating at 2 MHz. It offers two main types of RF delivery.

Continuous Wave Mode

Continuous wave, or CW, RF creates controlled thermal stimulation within the selected layer of the skin. This mode may be used where the aim is to support collagen remodelling and improve concerns such as skin texture, firmness and laxity.

Pulsed Wave Mode

Pulsed wave, or PW, RF delivers energy differently and can be selected for particular concerns involving pigmentation, redness and skin quality. Having both modes allows the treatment to be adapted rather than treating every client with identical settings.

Adjustable Treatment Depth

Sylfirm X allows treatment depths from approximately 0.3 mm to 4.0 mm. Different areas of the face and body vary in thickness and sensitivity, so the ability to select treatment depth is important.

The practitioner can take into account the area being treated, skin thickness, skin concern, skin tone, previous treatments, individual sensitivity and the desired treatment objective. Treatment should always be personalised rather than based on one standard setting.

The Na Effect and Dr JongJu Na

Sylfirm X was invented by Dr JongJu Na. The technology incorporates what is known as the Na Effect, which relates to the way bipolar RF energy is delivered around the microneedle electrodes.

Sylfirm X for Wrinkles, Skin Ageing and Firmness

Comparison of the effects of fractional microneedle radiofrequency and microneedling on modulating the senescent fibroblast milieu in aged skin
Scientific Reports, 2025

This randomised split-face study involved 30 women aged 60 and over with visible periorbital wrinkles. The Sylfirm X-treated side showed improvements in wrinkles, elasticity and hydration, alongside histological changes involving collagen and elastin. Individual responses varied and the study does not establish a guaranteed outcome for every client.

Sylfirm for Facial Redness and Rosacea

Therapeutic effects of a new invasive pulsed-type bipolar radiofrequency for facial erythema associated with acne vulgaris and rosacea
Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy, 2020; published online 2021

This clinical study included 31 patients with facial erythema associated with rosacea or acne and used Sylfirm pulsed bipolar radiofrequency. Improvements in erythema were reported and no serious adverse events were reported during the study. Rosacea is chronic, so this evidence should not be interpreted as a cure.

Sylfirm X for Melasma Maintenance

This split-face clinical study used Sylfirm X alongside conventional melasma treatment and then as maintenance treatment. The RF-treated side maintained improvement better during the study period after conventional therapy was stopped. The study was small and melasma remains a complex, recurrent condition.

Sylfirm X for Acne and Acne Scarring

Combination of Fractional Microneedling Radiofrequency and Ablative Fractional Laser versus Ablative Fractional Laser Alone for Acne and Acne Scars
Yonsei Medical Journal, 2023

In this randomised split-face study of 23 patients, one side received Sylfirm X RF microneedling combined with fractional CO2 laser and the other received fractional CO2 laser alone. The combination side showed greater improvement in inflammatory acne and acne-scar measures. Because this was a combination study, the findings should not be attributed to Sylfirm X alone.

These publications used different study designs, patient groups, treatment settings and, in some cases, combination therapies or manufacturer support. NewLife Aesthetics presents them as published evidence to inform discussion, not as a guarantee of individual results.

Sylfirm X for Skin Texture and Enlarged Pores

Changes in skin texture and enlarged pores are common concerns as the skin ages or following acne. RF microneedling may help improve the appearance of uneven texture by stimulating controlled remodelling within the skin.

Rather than attempting to make the skin look artificially smooth, the aim is to improve overall skin quality and refinement. A course of treatment may be recommended where concerns are more established.

Sylfirm X for Acne Scarring

Acne scarring can vary considerably in depth and type. RF microneedling is commonly considered for selected atrophic acne scars because controlled microneedling and radiofrequency energy can support remodelling within the skin.

Treatment settings and depth are selected according to the type and severity of scarring. More established scars may require several sessions and some clients may benefit from a combination of different treatments.

No treatment can guarantee the complete removal of acne scarring.

Sylfirm X for Pigmentation and Melasma

Pigmentation and melasma are complex concerns and should be assessed carefully. Sylfirm X’s pulsed wave mode may be considered as part of an individual treatment plan for selected pigmentation concerns.

Melasma in particular is often influenced by several factors including sun exposure, hormonal influences, genetics, skin type, heat and previous inflammation or treatment. It can also recur.

For this reason, Sylfirm X should not be presented as a guaranteed cure for melasma. Where appropriate, treatment may form part of a broader plan that also includes suitable home care and careful sun protection.

Sylfirm X for Redness and Rosacea

Selected clients with persistent facial redness or rosacea may be assessed for radiofrequency microneedling treatment. Published research on fractional microneedling radiofrequency has reported improvements in rosacea-related redness in selected patients, but rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition and treatment response varies.

Suitability depends on the type and severity of redness, individual sensitivity, health history and the condition of the skin at the time of treatment. Sylfirm X should be considered as one possible option within an individual plan rather than presented as a cure for rosacea.

Is Sylfirm X Suitable for Different Skin Tones?

Sylfirm X can be considered across a wide range of skin tones when appropriate treatment parameters are selected.

Sylfirm X vs Morpheus8

Clients often ask about the difference between Sylfirm X and Morpheus8. Both are radiofrequency microneedling technologies, but they use different systems and treatment configurations.

Sylfirm X offers bipolar RF microneedling, a 2 MHz frequency, continuous wave and pulsed wave modes, and adjustable treatment depths. Morpheus8 is also a fractional bipolar RF microneedling technology but uses a different device design and RF delivery approach.

We do not believe that one device should automatically be described as the best option for every person. Treatment choice should be based on the skin concern, degree of laxity, skin tone, treatment area, health history, desired outcome, recovery considerations and practitioner assessment.

What Happens During a Sylfirm X Consultation?

How Many Sylfirm X Treatments Will I Need?

There is no single treatment schedule that is appropriate for everyone. The number of sessions recommended depends on the concern being treated, severity of the concern, skin condition, treatment goals, previous treatments and individual response.

Some clients may benefit from a shorter course, while others with more established concerns may require additional sessions. Maintenance treatment may also be considered where appropriate.

When Will I See Results?

RF microneedling produces gradual rather than instant changes. Some clients notice early improvements in the appearance or feel of their skin after treatment, while changes associated with collagen remodelling develop progressively over the following weeks and months.

The degree and speed of improvement vary between individuals. A course of treatments may be recommended where a more substantial improvement is being sought.

What Is the Downtime After Sylfirm X?

Downtime is generally limited, although individual reactions vary.

Temporary effects may include redness, mild swelling, warmth, sensitivity, temporary dryness or tightness and small visible treatment marks.

These effects normally settle progressively following treatment. Your practitioner will provide appropriate aftercare and explain when skincare, makeup, exercise and other activities can safely be resumed.

Any reaction that is more significant or persists longer than expected should be reported to the clinic.
