How we assess whether a treatment is suitable
Suitability is not decided from a treatment name alone. The practitioner considers the concern being treated, relevant medical history, skin condition, previous procedures, treatment goals and the expected benefit versus risk. Patch testing is carried out where clinically or technically appropriate. Where a prescription-only medicine may be considered, prescribing must be assessed by an appropriately qualified prescriber.
Clients are encouraged to ask questions and to understand alternatives, downtime, aftercare and limitations before proceeding. A recommendation may also be to delay treatment, choose a different approach or not treat if that is the safer or more appropriate option.
Technology, treatment information and evidence
Laser hair removal
NewLife uses dual-wavelength laser technology with 755 nm Alexandrite and 1064 nm Nd:YAG. Technology and settings are selected according to factors including skin type, hair characteristics and treatment area.
RF microneedling
Sylfirm X combines microneedling with radiofrequency. We keep separate pages for treatment information, treatment science and concern-specific evidence so commercial information is not confused with research summaries.
HIFU and skin tightening
HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy at selected tissue depths. Suitability depends on anatomy, degree of laxity, treatment area and the outcome being sought.
Microneedling
Microneedling may be considered for concerns such as texture, pores, fine lines and acne scarring. Treatment depth and protocol should be selected for the individual.
Skin boosters and polynucleotides
Different injectable skin treatments have different compositions, mechanisms and suitability criteria. They should not be treated as interchangeable simply because they are grouped together in marketing.
Published evidence and guides
Our evidence pages are intended to explain mechanisms and published findings without presenting study results as a guarantee of an individual outcome.
Questions clients commonly ask
Is NewLife Aesthetics in Wimbledon?
The clinic is at 42 Coombe Lane, Raynes Park, London SW20 0LA, close to Raynes Park Station and near Wimbledon. See directions and transport information.
Do you treat darker skin tones?
Yes. Mo Ashraf has particular experience treating darker and highly pigmented skin tones. For laser treatments, wavelength, settings and suitability need to be selected carefully for the individual skin and hair characteristics.
Do I need a consultation before treatment?
For many aesthetic treatments a consultation is an important part of assessing suitability and explaining realistic options. NewLife offers a complimentary consultation, and a complimentary patch test where treatment protocols require one.
How do you decide between HIFU, RF microneedling, microneedling and skin boosters?
They act in different ways and at different tissue depths. The choice depends on the main concern, skin condition, anatomy, downtime preferences, contraindications and the expected benefit from each option. More than one approach may be discussed, but combination treatment is not automatically better.
Are results guaranteed?
No. Aesthetic treatment outcomes vary between individuals. Consultation should include realistic expectations, limitations, possible side effects and the option of not proceeding.
Who discusses prescription treatment options?
If a prescription-only medicine could be relevant, suitability and prescribing are assessed by an appropriately qualified prescriber. Public-facing information should promote the consultation rather than a prescription medicine.
Planning a consultation
If you are unsure which treatment is appropriate, you do not need to choose one before contacting the clinic. Start with the concern you would like assessed. Contact NewLife Aesthetics or, for facial lines and wrinkles, visit our consultation page.
